Drafting Stragety

Well it's that time of year! We're all doing mock drafts just waiting for the the actual season to start and laughing at dummies who actually do their drafts prior to preseason. Time to get your game plan down for the big draft day and figure out who's going and when so that whether you're doing snake or auction draft you'll be ready and not caught off guard.

Our league that we started last year, Yeah Yeah Football League, will be doing an auction draft this year as we switch from year to year to keep things interesting. I originally started fantasy by doing auction drafts but really enjoyed the snake last year. Especially since some dummy took David Johnson 1st overall leaving me to pick up Bell, Thanks Brando!

Anyways, since I've been doing some auctions this year I have noticed that going for a big 3 with lots of spending is actually leaving me with pretty solid squads. The last time I did auction I kinda let everyone spend then selves out quick and allowed myself to control the mid to late rounds of the draft. I fared rather well as I've never not been in the playoffs in my 5 years of fantasy so far but I have noticed with the amount of talent among the running back and wr positions that you can actually spend almost $150 of your $200 on 3 top players and still make a pretty insane team with that remaining $50

Now, once you've blown that majority of your money there is going to be a lot of players that you're just gonna have to sit back and watch go to your competition. But during this time you need to be planing. Find a way to throw out players that you know others will be willing to spend money on that you're not necessarily wanting to commit to, yet wouldn't mind having. If no one picks them up then that's a pick where you're going to be saving a ton of money, but if they do like we are hoping then that gets some of their potential bidding money out of the way for you to bid on later round players that you actually want. Here's what one of my mock drafts looked like from the other day

You can clearly see where I blew my initial load, and where I was able to pick up steals to allow myself to big a decent chunk on the players that I wanted later down the draft. So what are some of your guys strategies for setting yourself up with the team you want? Let us know and good luck to you idiots this year in fantasy 🤙🏻
