Are we really that surprised?

In a game filled with rain, high expectation, and Steelers turnovers... an ending that can only be described as “typical Browns fashion” unfolded.

A much anticipated Browns team coming off their season of Hard Knocks had held their own against Roethlisberger and the Steelers and found themselves in a week 1 overtime match up. The rain was relentless and there were many plays that showed the affects. The Steelers with 6 turnovers including 3 interceptions from Big Ben didn’t help the Steelers in anyway although the Browns failed to capitalize on most of these turn overs and the tie score shows.

Once in over time the steelers made their way into field goal range after forcing a punt by the Browns. with 1:44 left Chris Boswell attempted a 43 hard field goal that went wide right. Cleveland was ready to that their first win since 2016. The 1-31 record was about to improve.

However improving as it did, it was not what anyone in Cleveland was ready for. After punting the ball again the browns picked off Big Ben on a strip sack fumble that set the Browns up for the big win. However, Zane Gonzalez’s 43-yard game-winning field goal attempt was blocked to which would eventually lead to the 21-21 week 1 tie that would extend the Browns win-less streak while also ending their loosing streak.

Can any of us truly be that shocked at the outcome of such a game? It's something that no one could really predict, but when it's all said and done, and we stare at our screens with our jaws dropped; We can't help but think "go fucking figure!"

Here is to the Browns! And may they continue their baby steps to an eventual Victory!
